BEN – the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund – is set to receive a £5k fundbooster thanks to runners from UK sub-prime car dealer ACF Car Finance Limited who completed last week’s BUPA 10km Great Manchester Run.
Fifteen members of staff signed up for the challenge, between them raising more than £2,500 in personal sponsorship. They were applauded at the finish line by ACF Car Finance Sales and Marketing Director, Norman Beaumont.
With matchfunding from their employers, the team expects to donate at least £5,000 to the charity, which supports employees of the automotive and related industries in times of need.
ACF Car Finance has been a keen supporter of BEN, with staff previously taking part in a number of fundraisers, including a sponsored sky dive and abseil.
“We’re delighted that we all finished, and grateful for the support and encouragement from friends and the company,” said Jane Whittle, ACF Car Finance Marketing Manager, who was one of the runners.
Congratulations to ACF Car Finance’s Laynie Stothart-Wilde who completed the run in 45 minutes! The other team members were: Peter Nosworthy, Dan Tinsley, Mark Moore, Jamie Fay, Laura Edwards, Melissa Parsons, Dave Ellis, Lorna Rossi, John Parks, Chrissy Bennett, Neil O'May, Anita Bell and Craig Kinder. Those taking part travelled from Chester, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol, and included staff from all areas and levels of the company.
Jane added: “We all appreciate the tireless work BEN does and are thrilled with the amount we have raised for the charity.”
BEN offers help, support and financial assistance to over 15,000 people every year. The charity has four residential centres across the UK which provides a range of services including nursing and quality care to the elderly as well as sheltered accommodation.
