It was almost every day when his former colleagues would ask who knew someone with a van. This was usually for a quick job such as collecting and delivering white goods , assisting with a house move or just to clear rubbish and unwanted items.
However whilst lots of advertisements appear for ‘Man with Van’ they often were unavailable to answer the enquiry call or would have to fit in the job at some time that was convenient to them but very inconvenient to the customer. Ken realised that were he able to offer a genuinely flexible and convenient service there was more than sufficient business available. ‘I don’t care what time a job needs doing ‘ said Ken. ‘In advertising and events sales, you may leave the office, but your mind is very much focussed on the next days business, this means that I never really switch off anyway and had I needed to meet a prospective client out of hours or perhaps make an international call. I would do it regardless of the day or the time on the UK clock’.
‘Likewise’ he continued, ‘If it was necessary to tailor a proposal to suit a prospective client’s needs better, then I would do that’. Applying that same mindset to his own courier and light haulage business is something he takes very seriously.

So whilst It has become very popular with motorcycle enthusiasts wishing to have their bikes transported safely and dryly in his to alternate locations, it is more frequently being called in to dirtier work such as rubbish removal. ‘The company ‘says Ken ‘views all work as revenue and we aren’t picky about what we are asked to do’
