Body Text:
The world's first Vegan Society was created on November 1st 1944 by vegan pioneer Donald Watson. Mile High Drinks is a vegan-friendly drink that is free from artificial flavours, colours, preservatives and additives. It is a delicious and natural drink made from red grape, cherry, aloe vera and ginger.
Drinking just one 250ml bottle of Mile High (www.milehighdrinks.com) has been shown in a scientific study to provide the average daily recommended amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants naturally occur in exceptionally high levels in red grapes and cherries.
Stuart Roberts, naturopathic nutritionist, creator of Mile High and director of the company, said: “World Vegan Day will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all things vegan and Mile High Drinks is happy to promote the occasion. As a nutritionist I recognise the health benefits of adopting a vegan lifestyle. Vegans, in general, tend to appreciate the link between good health and nutrition and understand the need to maintain a high level of antioxidants through the consumption of fruits and vegetables to combat free radicals”.
Cherry and red grape Mile High is now available in 53 Waitrose stores nationwide including the fabulous John Lewis food halls in Bluewater and Oxford Street. It is also available via Ocado (www.ocado.co.uk).

Antioxidant strength is measured in Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) units. ORAC measures how many oxygen radicals a specific food can absorb and deactivate. The more oxygen radicals a food absorbs, the higher its ORAC score, and the better a food is at helping our bodies fight diseases like cancer and heart disease.
Drink / Average ORAC units per 250ml
Mile High / 3600
Apple juice (cloudy) / 1500
Orange juice /1200
Tomato juice / 275

FAQs
What are antioxidants? They are substances that reduce, neutralise and prevent the damage done to the body by free radicals. Free radicals are electrons that are no longer attached to atoms. Instead of circling the nucleus of an atom, free radicals are both free and radical enough to sweep through our cells causing damage.
How are free radicals produced? Oxidation creates free radicals, which happens in normal metabolic processes and our everyday exposure to our environment including eating, breathing, going out in the sun and ‘fresh air’.
What damage can free radicals do? Free radicals contribute to the deterioration of bones, joints, connective tissues and organs, the decline of the immune system and advance the visible signs of ageing, and to some extent, the ageing process itself.
